When mountain biking, less effort put into the handlebars leads to less muscle tension and thus reduces the risk of arm pump or numb hands. Thanks to the feedback collected from countless riders of the Enduro World Series, the Ergon design team succeeded in further improving the popular GE1 in certain details. Surface texture is now even more slip-proof and the rubber compound softer, lending constant precise grip. It actively supports the correct torso/forearm position during downhill riding – by rotating the grip area towards the steering axle by 8 % the elbows are automatically outwardly raised! Forged inner clamp, fully integrated grip end connected to the inner core (Pat. Pending) – this establishes a soft, damping grip edge, and your hand can grip right at the outer edge. Pressure is diminished from the sensitive ulnar nerve, which is located on the outside hand. Compatible with carbon handlebars.

Maximum hand grip is assured with use of silicone-based rubber compounds, a texture orientation which is opposite the rotation of the hand, and a damping inner core construction.

The grip surface is rider-oriented and automatically ensures the correct angular position of the forearms and elbows.

The grip surface is aligned at 8° to the handlebar axis and against the backsweep. This position allows you as the rider to “automatically” take the correct position of the elbows

The optimization and expansion of the texture allowed us to make the grip rubber even softer and thereby further increase the grip.

Varying wall thicknesses, in the different gripping zones, more grip rubber could be used where more damping was needed.

Tuned damping within the various grip-zones due to different material thickness inside the grip core.

The texture update is completed all the way to the edge of the grip itself, affording more room for comfort. The ulnar nerve on the outside of the hand is effectively relieved and numbness is prevented.

The thumbs were also taken into consideration. The deeply drawn grip zone and the soft rubber compound further reduce the pressure in this area.

The GE1 is specially developed for aggressive mountain biking. Works great when handlebars are wide, and gripped right at the end, while the riders elbows are kept bent. This position dictates the construction of the grip, and in turn the grip itself is able to prevent typical issues of tension in the arm and hand. With two rubber compounds, there are textured zones orientated against the direction of rotation of the hand. The grip also takes advantage of a lightweight high quality aluminium clamp, securing the damping optimized inner core and the whole grip for better support and less fatigue.
